Under her leadership, Indonesian boxing has already shown renewed momentum. The national team secured five medals at the 2025 Malaysia Boxing Championship, followed by an impressive performance at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, where Vicky Tahumil Junior claimed gold in the men’s 51 kg division.
Silver medals were won by Nabila Maharani, Huswatun Hasanah, Asri Udin, and Maikhel Roberrd Muskita, while bronze medals were secured by Israellah Athena BS, Alfianita Kartina Manopo, Maria Meisita Maria Manguntu, and Jill Mandagi.
Supporting this transformation is Shelly Selowati H. Soejono, Vice President of PERTINA and a former ASIAN Games & SEA Games champion. She has played a pioneering role in the sport’s administration, becoming the first woman to serve as General Secretary in PERTINA’s 66-year history 8 years ago.
Her international involvement is equally significant. Shelly has served as an IBA-certified Technical Delegate since 2016 and as an International Technical Official at major competitions worldwide. In recognition of her contribution to the advancement of women’s boxing, she received the “Pioneer Woman in Boxing” Award from the International Boxing Association in 2022.
Together with fellow executive Trinovie, the leadership of Hillary Brigitta Lasut and Shelly Selowati H. Soejono represents a historic moment for Indonesian boxing, marking the first time women have held the federation’s top leadership positions in PERTINA’s 66-year history.
With stronger grassroots development, expanding competition opportunities, and increasing international participation, Indonesian boxing—particularly its women’s division—is steadily reclaiming its place on the regional and global stage.
For Indonesia, the message is clear: a new era of boxing has begun, and women are leading the way.
